Octagon Greenhouse-Winter Garden-Café

This project was conceptualized during my military service to revitalize an unused, ceramic-tiled octagonal ground located within the barracks. The main objective was to design a comfortable cafe and winter garden where military personnel could relax, socialize, and unwind during their lunch breaks.

The architectural language of the design is highly inspired by the 150-year-old historic headquarters building located within the same compound. To respect the military context and its historical identity, the facade incorporates rhythmic arched windows, classical columns, and traditional brickwork. The existing octagonal layout is crowned with a steel-structured glass dome roof, which maximizes natural daylight and creates a spacious, biophilic indoor atmosphere. This project stands as an adaptive reuse proposal that honors historical heritage while delivering a functional, modern social space.
